FAUGERES AND THE AREA.

 

Looking north over Faugeres.

Typical of the Languedoc region, Faugeres (Co-ordinates - 43 degrees 33`52" North, 3 degrees 11` 20" East) is a small village of around 450 inhabitants many of whom are employed in the wine industry. The Languedoc-Roussillon region covers the Mediterranean coast line from the Spanish border to Provence in the East and inland as far as the high plains of the Lozere (Causses). The whole region is steeped in history from the ancient Greeks who settled towns such as Agde and the Romans whose legacies are innuemerable. Faugeres is 10 Km. south of Bedarieux and 25 Km. north of Beziers. Faugeres is on the eastern edge of the magnificent "Natural Parc of the Haut Languedoc". A good choice of supermarkets are within 10 minutes drive as are a good selection of restaurants.
